5 things I liked this week – 16.12.16

  1. Watching S in her dance show, it was brilliant!
  2. K discovering that you can now get nespresso pods in our local John Lewis (I know nespresso aren’t the most environmentally friendly way to get your coffee but we do recycle the pods and we got the nespresso machine in part to try and wean me off my coke (as in coca-cola) addiction, something which I suspect may be more environmentally damaging. Anyway, previously we either had to bulk buy our nespresso online or I would have to traipse into central London to get it, so I am now a happy bunny.
  3. The Humans finale was good. If you haven’t watched it yet, I’m sure you must be able to catch up with it somehow on one of the streaming services (it’s a Channel 4 show here in the UK, so it may be on their media player). Humans is not flawless, it still bugs me a little that they have this amazing technology to create the synths (human like robots), yet other than that and a few very minor costume changes, it looks pretty much like 2016 where we don’t have that sort of technology, still, I’m being picky. It is really good and well, Colin Morgan…
  4. One of the things I like about this time of year is when you get emails from your various online services telling you stats about what you’ve read or listened to etc. etc. My Spotify summary for 2016 was interesting; now I feel that I use Spotify to, most of the time, pretty much listen to nothing but The Show Ponies constantly but actually, this year, my most listened to artist was Jake Morley, all I can say is that at some point this year I must have listed to Jake Morley a lot (which actually is understandable as his latest album is pretty good). Spotify created a playlist of some of the tracks I’ve been listening to the most this year and it’s a pretty good playlist if I do say so myself 😜, as well as Jake Morley and The Show Ponies, there’s quite a bit of All Saints, reminding me that they also had a good album out earlier this year, Idris Elba, Jake Bugg and some classics from early last decade.
  5. S’s school Christmas concert was also lovely, I always love seeing schools acknowledge that creativity through music, art etc. is important, it’s not just all about the exam results.
