Please don’t read this review if you haven’t yet read book 1, Ink and Bone, as the review below is a little spoilery for the first book.
In the second Great Library book, Jess and his friends are settling into their life at the library, now that they’ve finished their training. Jess and Glain are soldiers, Dario and Khalia are scholars. However they’re not happy, as their friend Thomas is not with them and they are all to aware that beneath the calm surface of the library is a very dark side. They are not the type of people to stand by though and the dark forces within the library know this and the friends are being manipulated into position.
I absolutely loved this book. Although I found that book 1 had it’s slow bits, now into book 2, the main characters feel like old friends to me. I particularly liked the ambiguous choices that Jess and his friends have to make, nothing is clear cut in their world and loyalties ever shifting. Please, please, please make this book series into movies!
