August 2018 photos

I’ve done much more traveling than normal for me this month, so lots of photos, also check out my Bournemouth post. Frieze Sculpture 2018 (Regent’s Park, London – still on until 7 October) Cwm Idwal walk (in Snowdonia, one of the most challenging walks I’ve been on, although saying that, little kids were doing it) Flowers from my…

Bournemouth

I’m planning on starting a monthly photo post of photos I’m pleased with that month but after a recent trip to Bournemouth, I’ve had so many photos that I’m happy with, I thought I’d do a separate post. We had some very variable weather. With one morning wet enough to drive us into the aquarium….

#100embroideredflowers

So, I’ve finally finished my #100embroideredflowers project! Inspired by #the100dayproject, I photographed and embroidered a flower each day for 100 days. Well, sometimes (not as often as I thought might happen), the flower for that day proved extra complex to stitch or I had zero time due to other things and then the flower wasn’t…

5 things I liked this week – 13.7.18

1. More fantastic walks in Richmond Park. 2. Helping out on the language school (where I work) summer trip. 3. That it’s been feeling (towards the end of the week) a little cooler but we could still desperately do with some rain, everything is yellow. 4. Listening to Motown. 5. The Trump balloon.

5 things I liked this week – 30.6.18

1. Another excellent walk through Richmond Park. 2. More quality time with the cat (me looking hot, sweaty and a mess, whereas the cat looks far more put together). 3. The kids’ school getting an excellent, well deserved Ofsted report. I’m always highly appreciative of the opportunities my kids get and I know full stop…

5 things I liked this week – 22.6.18

1.Lots of visits from the neighbour’s cat. 2.The big wide open spaces of Richmond Park. 3. A bus ride through a part of London I don’t often visit (an excellent people and architecture watching opportunity). 4. Stuart MacBride’s The Blood Road was a good audiobook listen, it was good to get back to some familiar…

5 things I liked this week – 1.6.18

1. I went for a lovely walk in Home Park (the park next to Hampton Court) at the weekend. 2. I’m ‘enjoying’ watching Handmaid’s Tale now that it’s back on TV, ‘enjoying’ as in I’m appreciating how well made it is and what an important story it is but it is a very uncomfortable watch….

A trip to see the newly reopened Temperate House

The Temperate House at Kew Gardens has been closed for refurbishment for a long time but it reopened recently, so I had to go and have a look. They’ve done an amazing job, it’s so light and bright now. You can now go and walk on the upper level too! They have water features now…

5 things I liked this week – 18.5.18

1. A nice walk in Richmond Park. 2. A trip to the V&A to see The Future Starts Here, it was the first exhibition I’ve seen in the new exhibition space and *ahem* I may have preferred the actual space over the actual exhibition (the exhibition space is amazing) but it was pretty good. 3….

5 things I liked this week – 11.5.18

1. I have yet to do the next stage of the Thames Path, I think in part because the last stage I did (the south bank central London section) was so bleurgh, particularly compared to the stage before (Putney to Battersea) which I absolutely loved, that I almost don’t want to do the next stage…
